The UW Faculty Honors Committee chose Ellie’s research proposal, “Antimicrobial properties within celery leaflets may deter Salmonella enterica colonization,” for a Wisconsin Hilldale Undergraduate Research Fellowship. Ellie will follow up on her preliminary findings that different aged celery leaves support different Salmonella populations. Ellie started in our lab virtually during the pandemic, stuck with us, and has made significant strides as a researcher. We are so very proud of her and think this recognition is well deserved.
