The Faculty Honors Committee chose Sonia’s research proposal, “Investigating Plant-Bacteria Interactions in Response to Plant Defense Systems” for a Sophomore Honors Summer Apprenticeship award. Sonia will investigate plant defenses that limit Salmonella growth on healthy plants and down-regulation of plant defenses during infection that benefit S. enterica. Sonia has made great strides in the lab, even under the pandemic restrictions and we’re very proud of her reception of this award!
