Dr. Jose Pablo Dundore-Arias
Currently: Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology, Department of Biology and Chemistry, California State University, Monterey Bay
While in the Barak and Groves Labs, JP studied the role of phytophagous insects in the multiplication and persistence of Salmonella enterica on plants. The ultimate goal of the research is to reduce the incidence of food-borne illness and provide a safer food supply through a better understanding of the mechanisms that allow these bacteria to grow in the phyllosphere following phytophagous insect infestation. His main interests are vector-pathogen-host interactions, plant/human bacterial pathogens, food safety and global food security.
This project was highlighted in the Fall 2014 Issue of Grow.
